After a three-day break the Oye Esteban tour resumed, slowly making its way towards the East coast. The Minneapolis audience was very receptive. Morrissey was into it, energetic and talkative. In the setlist, "Lost" and "Tomorrow" were replaced by "Billy Budd" and "Break Up The Family".

As he entered stage Morrissey greeted the audience with "Hello Funnieapolis... hello..." After "The Boy Racer" - which suffered from slight feedback - he added "Welcome to my living room! I feel like I'm standing on a coffee table... and I could fall off... nobody cares...". Because the concert was originally scheduled to take place at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, he asked after "Billy Budd": "And who exactly is Roy Wilkins anyway? I've never heard of him... he's obviously some noble politician who opened his own abattoir, consequently became very successful... but we don't care..."

After "Alma Matters" Morrissey turned to his front row fans for some private conversations: "They follow me everywhere I go... (to someone in particular) Are you okay? Are you okay? I want to know if you're okay... yes? Thank you..." Then, to someone handing him a letter: "I'll keep it private, I won't read it anyway..." The line "he says: no one really sees me when I cry" in "Reader Meets Author" was changed to "You see no one really knows how hard I try". However Morrissey still hadn't started adapting the "year 2000" line to "it hasn't changed anyone here". After the song he asked "Could some of you please stop breathing, it's getting really hot in here... that's as funny as I would get... (giggles) it's not true!".

After "Is It Really So Strange?" Morrissey said "Some of you have grown really old since the last time I was here". On a related subject after "Hairdresser On Fire" he said "Thank you for remembering the old folk... I do appreciate it...". After "November Spawned A Monster" he asked "Does anybody have a hair dryer?". Following "A Swallow On My Neck" he asked someone "What did you mean by that? What did I mean by that?" and then introduced "Meat Is Murder" with "This is for everybody who still believes in good old fashion macho meals (people in the crowd laugh)... why is that funny?".

After the very serious "Meat Is Murder" Morrissey jokingly introduced the more lightweight "I Can Have Both" with "And now I'd like to get serious for a moment... this is called 'I Can Have Both'... and I can! But I don't..." After the song he joked "Whoever gets the t-shirt, gets me... and whoever gets me, wishes they had the t-shirt... see I have my own business I have the manufacture... you can't buy them at Footlocker".

Halfway into "Speedway", looking at a fan in front of him, Morrissey said "He's having too much fun..." After the song he joked "Thank you for applauding my ability to sing off key, it's very generous of you...". He was very playful with the lyrics of "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get". He sang "Whether you like it or not", "take the complicated way and give in to me", "somebody please let me in", "let me squeeze in" and "I think you're asking for it and you're certainly gonna get it".

Following "The Teachers Are Afraid of the Pupils" Morrissey enquired "How many of you have to go to work tomorrow? (crowd reacts) Ah-ah-ha-ah-ah...". Before going into main set closer "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" he had a stab at MTV: "You know, some music is actually too good for MTV (crowd cheers)... however, I'm not saying you heard it tonight... you were too quick then!". When he returned to the stage after a short break to perform the encore he said "Thank you for being so gorgeous..." before going into the final song.
