NOTES:

The Cribs were supporting Franz Ferdinand this evening and most of the audience seemed unfamiliar with the band. Nevertheless, they went down well with the crowd and did an excellent job of warming them up for what was to come.

I'd never seen The Cribs before, although I've got one of their albums. They make a pleasant din and the recent addition of Johnny Marr seems to work well for them.

The sound in the Heineken Music Hall this evening was surprisingly crisp and clear. This shines through in the recording, and also in Franz Ferdinand's, which will be coming later.

As on the studio version, Gary, the bass player, really strains (and fails) to hit the notes on 'Cheat On Me', but this somehow doesn't detract from the song. There are no pretensions here and you have to admire the demands he makes on his vocal cords.

Eleven songs totalling over 42 minutes were played, making for a very generous support slot. Thank you, Franz Ferdinand.

There's no intro to the set. The band launch straight into 'We Were Aborted' and I only just got my recorder running before the first chord was struck.

As usual with my recordings, no mastering has taken place. You're hearing it the way my ears heard it and, frankly, I don't think any mastering is needed. The sound is excellent with no audience interference.

Enjoy!
